The
city of Karakorum: In 1220 great Chinghis
Khaan declared it as the capital city of his
vast Empire. Today there are many interesting
sites left to visit; the legendary turtle rock
sculptures, Buddhist stupas and the ruins of
this once great city to name a few. Erdenezuu
- the 1st Buddhist monastery in Mongolia was
established in 1586. Today Erdenezuu monastery
still shows its glory with collections of many
priceless religious objects and incredibly beautiful
Mongolian arts. It has a massive square wall,
420 meters in length each side, 108 Stupas &
17 temples.
Khorgo-Terkh
National Park is one of the most beautiful
national parks in Mongolia with its crystal
clear Terkh Lake and the Khorgo Volcano. The
nature beauty is awesome here and is a great
place for hiking, horse riding and relaxing.
You can visit the Hell of Yellow Dog, Ice Hole
and the Youth Cave that are pretty impressive!
The
majestic western Mongolia is definitely
the most beautiful part of the country. The
mountainous area climate is extreme with very
little vegetation, giving the surrounding landscape
a barren appearance. The stunning mountains
of Altai are home to wild animals such as the
globally endangered Snow Leopard, Argali and
Ibex, as well as wolves and many bird species.
Ethnic
groups: Altai area is a place where
many ethnic groups inhabit. You will meet the
Kazak, Tuva, Torguud and many other small groups
and enjoy their distinctive traditions and lives.
The Kazakh is a small ethnic group of Turkic
origin that was one of Genghis Khaan's tribes.
They are Muslims and now live peacefully keeping
their completely different customs, strict traditions,
religion and inhabit the Altai Mountains. Not
like their relatives in Kazakhstan, they speak
in their own Kazakh language as Mongolian government
gave them the rights to keep and conserve their
native language and religion.
Gun-Galuut
Nature Reserve is truly the marvelous
combination of high mountains, colourful flowers,
pretty lakes, rivers and wetland waters with
full of waterbirds including some rare and endangered
species like the Argali wild sheep, Siberian
White Cranes, Hooded Cranes, White-Napped Cranes,
Whooper Swans etc. Argali Wild Mountain Sheep
is rare, endangered species in the world. You
can photograph herds of Argali from the closest
distance in Baits & Berkh mountains.
