Lake Huvsgul, the second largest freshwater lake in the world after Lake Baikal in Buryatia, is popular for its pure water, awesome Alpine-like landscapes, wonderful wildlife and the different ethnic people living around it. Lake Huvsgul region is a destination in itself and an entire tour could be devoted to this specific part of Mongolia. Gun-Galuut is one of the most popular nature reserves of Mongolia and is truly the marvelous combination of high mountains, colorful flowers, pretty lakes, rivers and wetlands with its famous rare species. Tourists visiting the Nature Reserve have the opportunities to do watching, taking photos of the Endangered species, fishing, visiting nomadic family, riding horse, yak and camel and introducing with traditional nomadic lifestyle.

Day 1
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, meet at the airport, check in to the hotel, city tour: Gandan monastery, the museum of National History and the museum of Natural History

Day 2
Morning flight to Moren, center of Huvsgul province. Visit the famous Uushig Deer Stones and drive to the beautiful Lake Huvsgul, one of the deepest and the freshest watered lake in the world. Transfer to ger camp by the lake shore. Hiking along the beautiful lake and in the forests

We ride horses/drive to the Tsaatan tribe camp of Mongolia. Visit a Tsaatan hut and see their lifestyle. Photo sessions with reindeers and the Tsaatan folks

Today we kayak on the beautiful lake or ride horses in the mountains; you can see the lake bottom as the water is that pure. Enjoy and admire the nature beauty

After breakfast at the ger camp we drive to Moren for return flight to Ulaanbaatar. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to ger camp in the amazing Bogd Khaan National park. Visit the Manzushir monastery ruins from the 17th century

We drive to Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve on good paved road. Transfer to luxury Steppe Nomads camp and we drive/hike/ride horses to Mt. Baits to view the rare gorgeous Argali Wild mountain sheep. On the way we will see the endangered beautiful White Napped Crane and the Black Stork

Get back to Ulaanbaatar, transfer to hotel. Visit Bogd Khaan’s Palace Museum /the last king of Mongolia/ and see a traditional folklore concert. Shopping

Transfer to the airport after breakfast.

Lake Huvsgul - famous as the "dark Blue Pearl", is in Mongolia's northernmost province. It's the nations's deepest lake, and has 2% of the world's total freshwater. 1645m above sea level with 262m depth, the lake is frozen from December till May. Huvsgul area is also famous for the ethnic groups living in it. The Khalkha Mongols, Buryat, Darkhat and the Tsaatan people inhabit here.

The Tsaatan people - The Tsaatan are a small ethnic minority of Mongolia, who are Shamanists and still living in huts in high mountains breeding reindeer. They have a completely different lifestyle and famous for it.
Wildlife of Gun-Galuut- During the trip you will see and take pictures of endangered wild Mountain sheep-Argali the Big Horns nad many species of rare birds: White-napped crane, Siberian White Crane, Black stork, Asian pond heron, Whooper swan, Swan Goose and so on.

Nomadic Family in Gun-Galuut - Visiting a nomadic family on horseback is an exciting experience. Mongolian nomads are the friendliest people that you can meet on earth and they welcome you to their gers. The nomads inhabit the entire country respecting the nature, living in gers, breeding livestock- sheep, goat, horse, cow, yak and camel, moving for good pasture and good water for their animals, living from the products they produce, galloping on horseback..
